Bayonets, knives, militaria, swords, and some just neat stuff . . .

Lot 11 - Colt - Single Action Army - .45 Colt; 4.75 barrel - Good condition. - Dark patina metal w/ evenly scattered pinpoint roughness; barrel caliber marking very faint, other markings legible.  Good mech; strong rifling & light roughness in bore.  Left grip heavily worn w/ some tiny chips at edges, right grip moderately worn. Matching, ca. 1912. - s/n 326833 - {6c-394*lp2} - C&R ffl - (estimate 1900 to 2750)

Lot 17 - Winchester - Model 97 - exposed hammer pump shotgun - 12 ga.; 2.75” cham.; cyl. choke 18.75” barrel. - Condition is very good to fine. - Smooth metal w/ 60% blue, bright on frame, duller on barrel; fine markings.  Working.  Sound wood w/ light usage markes; rubber recoil pad installed. - ca. 1946.  With cylinder choke barrel numbered to gun, it's possible this was manufactured in riot gun configuration. - s/n E917393 - {7srm-41} - C&R ffl - (estimate 200 to 400)

Lot 154 - US Springfield - Trapdoor rifle - .45-70 - Condition is good to fair. - Composite features include 1884 dated breech block & s/n range w/ earlier rear sight.  Dark metal w/ rust & light pitting overall; marking legible.  Good mech; usual bore.  Sound wood with usage dings; no cartouches visible. - s/n 333300 - {7bjsc-1} - antq - (estimate 400 to 700)

Lot 155 - Early single shot military bolt action rifled musket. - Kynoch marked - Possible needle gun. - Approx. .45 cal; 32.25” round oct. breech barrel. - Condition is good to fair. - Very interesting specimen, I have been unable to identify a specific model designation.  Action appears as if it is either a needle-fire system or possibly missing part of the bolt?  Markings include “KYNOCH'S PATENT” on left receiver, “MUSKET - 43 - 77” on left rear barrel, and “KYNOCH - GUN - FACTORY - (????)” on the top of the barrel.  Bolt numbered J93135. - Not working, as far as I can tell; bolt face does not extend to breech of barrel, although firing pin extends into rear of bore.  Dark metal with pitting.  Rifled bore.  Sound stock w/ dings & crown over FW cartouche.{7bjsc-2} - antq - (estimate 200 to 400)

Lot 156 - Springfield Armory - Model 1873 - US military trapdoor rifle - .45-70 - Very good condition. - Appears to be in correct 1873 model configuration, w/ high arch breechblock, straight barrel/action channel in stock, 1873 dated lockplate, 2 click tumbler, etc.  Dark metal, with very light roughness overall; good markings.  Good marks with usage dings.  Appears to be a legit trapdoor, not messed with or “enhanced”. - s/n 52358 - {7cpks-4} - antq - (estimate 400 to 800)

Lot 158 - Partial flintlock pistol - .67 cal.; 12.5” oct. breech round barrel. - Missing cocking piece.  Mottled metal w/ light simple engraving.  Relief carved stock missing large sliver forward of lock; wire inlay decoration; simulated ramrod carved into the bottom of the stock. - {7cpks-2} - antq - (estimate 150 to 300)

Lot 159 - European - Military Revolver - large bore Nagant pattern - approx. 11 mm (“.44 cal); 5.5” oct. barrel. - Good condition. - Dark metal; working; only markings are double crown over U on clyinder & 3659 on major components. - I was unable to identify an exact model on this revolver.  If anyone knows, I'd appreciate the information. - s/n 3659 - {7djmo} - antq - (estimate 250 to 500)

TENTATIVE IDENTIFICATION - Probably a Brazilian 11.2mm x 20r or Argentine 11.2mm x 22r Nagant pattern military revolver.  Both are scarce.  Thanks to Maurizio in Italy for this information.

Lot 160 - Engraved Moore's Seven Shooter - single action revolver - .32 rimfire; 6” barrel. - About good condition. - Patina brass frame with traces of plating has strong excellent quality New York / “Nimschke-style” scroll engraving.  Dark barrel & cylinder w/ pitting; faint barrel address.  Hand does not fully advance cylinder; otherwise functioning.  Shrunken one piece wood grip has dings, dents, & losses at toes, with 30% varnish intact. - Owner reports that it was sold to him as having been carried by a Civil War Captain from Lexington, Mo., but no documentation. - {7glk-02} - antq - (estimate 300 to 600)

Lot 161 - Cooper Double Action Pocket Percussion Revolver - .31 cal.; 4” oct. barrel. - Refinished. - Bright polished metal; markings remain good, matching numbers.  Good mech & nipples.  Slightly shrunken refinished grips. - Interesting double action cap & ball revolver. - s/n 3919 - {7glk-09} - antq - (estimate 250 to 500)

Lot 164 - Antique Colt Single Action Army - appears to be condemned military model. - .45 Colt; 7.5” barrel. - Fair condition. - Medium gray metal with roughness & light pitting overall; legible markings.  Needs springs for hand & ejector rod; otherwise functioning; old improvised replaced ejector rod.  Mixed numbers with 183145 on backstrap & triggerguard, 5 digit frame number is partially obscured, possibly 31078, with a “C”, presumably for a condemned government model frame salvaged by the factory for a civilian gun.  By condition, these parts have certainly been together for a very long time.  Frame gauge shows no sign of refinish. - Two line patent on frame.  Usual bore.  Heavily worn intact hard rubber grips. - {7nmmo-5} - antq - (estimate 1000 to 2000)

Lot 165 - James Reid - My Friend knuckleduster - .22 RF - Condition is good to very good. - Dark patina brass frame w/ traces of nickel; engraving lightly worn, “MY FRIEND” under cylinder legible.  Plum patina cylinder w/ some deep pits or dings scattered over about 1/3 of the cylinder.  Working, but I believe it is missing a small part on the bottom front of frame (possibly a safety lock of some sort?). - s/n 3600 - {7rgmo-1} - antq - (estimate 500 to 1000)

Lot 169 - Merwin Hulbert - Double Action 3rd Model revolver - .44 WCF (.44-40); 7” barrel. - Good condition. - Gray metal w/ light roughness deepening to light pitting in some places; traces of original blue in protected areas.  “CALIBRE 1873 WINCHESTER” marking is faint, other markings strong.  Working, but needs timing help.  Dirty bore, looks like it would clean to good plus.  Fine hard rubber grips with very minor chipping to rear of right panel. - Excellent “suction”, a desirable quality in MH's.  The unusual twist-open design is very closely machined, resulting in a suction that pulls the cylinder closed after opening.  Although it feels like spring loading, it is actually a result of the vacuum from the close fitting of parts. - s/n 18494 - {7wbca-3} - antq - (estimate 750 to 1500)

Lot 170 - Colt First Model Original Cartridge Richards revolver - (aka Richards Conversion of 1860 Army Model) - .44 Colt; shortened 5.5” barrel. - Very good condition. - Soft light gray metal blends well w/ good remainders of nickle; good markings include mostly visible cylinder scene; line of individual small pits (or possibly light vise marks) on barrel & cylinder; a few light dings on cylinder.  Patina brass triggerguard.  Good mech; usual bore.  S/n number matching on major parts; assembly #2397 matching on loading gate, frame under trigger guard, & cylinder pin.  One piece wood grips w/ a couple chips at top front of right side.  My sources indicate all were originally made with 8” barrels; this shorter one is well crowned & looks like it's been this length for a long time. - Internal loading gate spring; no number on conversion ring.  Although commonly called “Conversions”, this revolver is one that was originally assembled by Colt as a cartridge revolver in the 1870's. - s/n 3347 - {7wbca-4} - antq - (estimate 1250 to 2500)

Lot 172 - Massachusetts Arms Company - Maynard primed belt revolver - .32 perc. cal., 6 barrel. - Fine condition. - Maybe 20% very thin blue on mostly plum barrel; plum cylinder; slight mottling remains on plum frame; 70% silver on backstrap; 30% blue on triggerguard; rather crisp overall.  Sharp markings & engraving; strong etched cylinder decoration.  Good mech.  Right side of grip is chipped at lower frame juncture.    - Manually advanced repeater, the button in front of the trigger releases the cylinder so it can by turned by hand to the next round.  Includes a Maynard automatic tape priming system.  Only around 1,000 made in the 1850’s.  Twenty percent of those were shipped to Kansas abolitionist John Brown.   - antq - - {apm-11cx} - (estimate 2000 to 4000)

Lot 173 - Colt - Single Action Army, 1st Generation. - .45; 4.75 barrel - About good to very good condition. - Medium gray metal w/ good remainders of blue; light roughness on cylinder & frame; good markings.  Frame gauge says possible that the gun’s been polished or refinished, but if so it was long ago and no visible evidence remains.  Good mech; light pitting & strong rifling in bore.  Good grips. - ca. 1904 - s/n 251951 - C&R ffl  - {ca-1951*lbs1} - C&R ffl - (estimate 1850 to 2500)

Lot 174 - Colt - Single Action Army, 1st Generation - .45; 4.75 barrel - About good to very good condition. - Mottled metal w/ traces original blue, some small areas of light pitting; never refinished.  Ding to bottom front edge of frame, triggerguard screw replaced.  Good markings.  Good mech; a few scattered light pits in good bore.  Lightly worn intact grips. - s/n 303346 - cons-bb FFL - item # - $2,100 - {ca-3046*lbs1} - C&R ffl - (estimate 1850 to 2500)

Lot 175 - Colt - Single Action Army – 1st Generation Frontier Six Shooter - .44-40; 4.75 barrel - About good condition. - Patina metal w/ widely scattered individual pits; some markings are heavily worn, but frame gauge does not suggest any heavy refinish.  Good mech; distinct rifling & pitting in bore.  Replaced imitation stag grips.  Otherwise matching, ca. 1908. - s/n 304033  - {ca-4033*lt2} - C&R ffl - (estimate 1700 to 2350)

Lot 176 - Colt - Single Action Army, 1st Generation - .45; 4.75 barrel - Good condition. - Mottled gray metal, peppered with spotting which sometimes deepens to very light pinpoint pitting; good markings; never refinished.  Good mech; light pitting & strong rifling in bore.  Good lightly worn grips.  Matching, ca. 1905. - s/n 264781 - C&R ffl - {ca-4781*lbs1} - (estimate 1850 to 2500)

Lot 177 - Full stock percussion long rifle - with patchbox - .45 cal.; 40.5” octagon barrel. - Good condition. - Showing use & neglect, but underneath the surface cosmetics I believe this is a very nice & attractive long rifle, that has not been messed with.  Dark barrel w/ light roughness, dovetailed rear sight & long low front blade.  Lighter gray lock with light engraving & partially visible lettering “..RRANTED”.  Double set trigger, hammer will not hold full cock.  Dark patina brass furniture, with very dark patina metal inlays possibly silver or german silver.  Dark brass fairly elaborate four piece patchbox with total of six piercings; skeletonized brass sideplate; total of about 20 decorative inlays (including wedge escutcheons).  Full length stock has very nice tiger stripe w/ age darkness; deep cracks around the front of the lock area. - {7cpks-3} - antq - (estimate 600 to 1200)

Lot 178 - Interesting U.S. Model 1861 Civil War rifle musket w/ Jas. Mowry marked stock - .58 cal.; 40” rifled barrel. - Very good condition. - Generally crisp brown metal; only distinct metal marking is strong “1861” at rear of lockplate, but there are faint remainders of “U.S. / Springfield” on the front portion of the lockplate.  Sound stock has usage dings, dents & scratch; with light but distinct oval stamping on left side opposite lock, “JAS. D. MOWRAY / NORWICH / CONN.”  The new 2nd Edition of the book on this model by Whisker, Hartzler & Yantz reports this cartouche found on stocks of Mowry '61's with Norwich locks.  -  They also note that Mowry acquired parts from various sources.  I don't know if this is a Mowry assembled gun using a Springfield lock (possibly w/ the Springfield markings intentional removed?), or if its a very old composite.   - It does appear to have been in this configuration for a long time, and shows no signs of having been messed with. - {7cpks-5} - antq - (estimate 1000 to 2000)

Lot 179 - Oval muzzle blunderbuss w/ sidebar - possibly English military, possibly Revolutionary War era - 25.8” barrel has octagon rear half measures 1.4” across flats at rear, tapering to 1.15” mid-barrel where it changes to round, which transitions to an oval muzzle with approx. inside measurements of 1.2” tall by 1.9” wide. - About very good condition.  Missing top jaw of cocking piece; appears to be missing a dog catch for the cocking piece on the exterior of the lock.   -  Also may be missing a forward barrel band, as the wood appears to be inletted there for such.  Generally smooth mottled light gray & brown metal; underside of barrel bright underneath stock; some corrosion around on the front portion of the lock.  Iron furniture with heavy pitting on buttplate.  Working.  -    Dark professionally refinished full length stock has a repaired crack at triggerguard & epoxy fill for losses around buttplate and for a lost sliver on the left barrel channel.  Modern replaced ramrod.  Owner reports this as an English, and reports “this very gun was given a full page display” in photos of weapons of the Revolutionary War.  Small markings include relief 3 pointed crown over D in oval on rear of sideplate; relief IK or JK or JX in over on inside of sideplate; various markings on bottom rear of barrel (see inset photo) appearing as a large S, possibly a crown over shield crest, and what may be a broad arrow, among others.  -  In researching this piece, I've found the following bits that report on similar arms:    a) In “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution” by Neumann, a number of blunderbusses are pictured.  One very similar to this appears as plate 135.MM on page 185 as a “European Blunderbuss”, attributed to “George C. Neumann Collection, Valley Forge National Historical Park”.   - Dimensions listed are about identical to this gun, and the configuration of lock and sideplate are very similar.  Differences include the presence of the sidebar on & probable dog catch on this gun, the configuration of triggerguard & buttplate tangs, and this gun being stocked full to the muzzle.   - b) In “British Military Firearms 1650-1850”, Blackmore discusses Burgoyne's musketoons on page 65, speculating that they were blunderbusses, then described as “Musketoons with oval noses”.    The possible example he pictures in plate 20 is a shorter weapon than this one, but he does mention that it's “flat triangular sideplate which had, at one time, a side bar attached”It would be worthwhile having the wood tested to determine if this has an American made stock.  If we are able to do so before the auction, we will post the results at ArmsBid.com, and announce them at the sale. - {7dcaz-1} - antq - (estimate 2500 to 5000)

Lot 180 - Matching pair of ornate flintlock duelling or holster pistols - attributed as German, ca. 1720. - w/ WWII bringback information - .66 caliber; 11.5” smoothbore barrels - Fine condition. - Rather crisp light gray metal w/ faint fine spotting; unmarked except for IDEPRE lightly marked on one lockplate.  Neck of one cocking piece is developing a crack; otherwise good mech.  Patina brass furniture included ornate buttcaps, and scroll sideplates with a grotesque mask in the center of each.  Sound relief carved stocks, varnish finish added, with light usage marks and a few small chips on edges mated to metal. - The owner, a purple heart & bronze star decorated WWII veteran with the 65th Infantry Div., was given these pistols from the estate of his friend, the late Col. Ernest Heidland.  Accompanied by photocopies of documents in German & English listing these pistols among those in a collection he purchased & brought back.  They are described as “German duelling or holster pistols, flintlock 20” circa 1720.  A note in German attached to the list seems to indicate that they came from a Dr. Gunter of Heidelberg, who had acquired it from Fursten Donnermakr around 1899. - {7dcaz-2} - antq - (estimate 2000 to 4000)

Lot 181 - Remington - Hammerless double barrel shotgun - 16 ga.; 28” damascus barrels. - Very good condition. - Strong attractive twist pattern on 90% of barrel surface, area of pitting on rear of left barrel; case colors on frame about silvered out.  Sound wood shows long usage.  Working; some pitting in bores. - s/n Q382433 - {7dhks04} - C&R ffl - (estimate 250 to 400)

Lot 182 - Early Ballard single shot shotgun - external extractor - Merwin marked - 20 ga.; 30” round barrel. - Condition is fair to good. - Dark barrel; peppered gray receiver.  Partial markings read “???? / BALLARD'S PATENT / NOV 5 1861” on left & “???? / MERWIN ???? / AGT'S. N.Y. / 1736” on right.  Dovetailed rear sight is missing blade (no sighting groove for rear sight as would be expected on R. Ball shotgun model).  Working, fairly good bore.  Sound wood w/ fairly heavy usage scars. - s/n 1736 - {7glk-17} - antq - (estimate 350 to 700)

Lot 183 - British Enfield three-band percussion military rifled musket. - 1862 dated - .62 cal.; 39” barrel. - About good condition. - Flat dark finish over light pitting; lockplate marked ENFIELD & 1862; numerous stamps on breech include broad arrow military & deaccession marks.  Good mech & nipple; fairly good bore.  Sound refinished stock w/ faint cartouches.  With sling & ramrod. - {7glk-18} - antq - (estimate 500 to 1000)

Lot 184 - US Springfield - 1863 dated three-band Civil War musket - .62 cal. percussion; 40” barrel. - Very good condition. - Bright polished metal; pitting around nipple and on lockplate, barrel bands, triggerguard & buttplate.  Lockplate markings a bit faint; include 1863 date; traces of eagle on nipple bolster.  Solid barrel bands w/ spring retainers.  Single blade rear sight.  Working; intact pitted nipple; hammer probably replaced.  Sound good condition refinished stock w/ some dings & remainders of cartouches. - {7glk-22} - antq - (estimate 500 to 1000)

Lot 185 - Colt - Lightning - pump rifle. - .22 rimfire; 24” octagon barrel. - Good condition. - Patina metal; dark barrel, mottled receiver w/ some light pitting; legible markings.  Extractor missing; otherwise working w/ very stiff action, may just need lubrication.  Sound stock w/ usage marks; cracked & repaired forend. - ca. 1899 - s/n 41512 - {7k-cbd1} - C&R ffl - (estimate 200 to 400)

Lot 186 - Asian military matchlock musket - .76” bore; 38” round barrel w/ flared muzzle. - Very good condition. - Yellow nictotine haze on metal;  very good wood w/ few usage marks.  Barrel marked JPRA EXRI 216081.  Wood stamped 1965.  Working. - {7kl-unk-kjmo} - antq - (estimate 150 to 300)

Lot 187 - Military percussion rifle - tentatively identified as a Brunswick Sargeant's Rifle - .66 cal. percussion; 33.5” barrel - Condition is excellent plus. - Crisp bright metal.  Mech, bore and wood all are in excellent plus condition; it's possible the wood was refinished at some point. It is unmarked except for some tiny proofs or inspector stamps (crown over LM on triggerguard & buttplate and what looks like an early ELG Belgian proof  w/ no crown on the side of the barrel, partly obscured by the wood).  Ladder rear sight is graduated from 4 to 12.  -  Bayonet lug on right side of barrel.  Previous appraiser with internationally renowed auction house identifid this as a “Brunswick Sargeant's Rifle”.  It may well be, as I'm not familiar with the type.  However, my source show some differences from the typical Brunsick rifle.  Best I can tell, most (but not all) back action 1837 pattern Brunswicks feature most (but not all) of the following features: 2 groove rifling (this has deep 4 groove); finger brace on trigger guard tang (this has none); 30” barrel (this is a bit longer); patchbox (this has none); 3 wedges (this has 2); brass furniture (these are iron).   - Dr. Whisker notes in “Firearms from Europe” that Brunswick pattern rifles were adopted by Russia as the Model 1843 Luttich Carbine, and that those were made in Liege, which would fit with the ELG proof.  However, it does not have cyrillic markings for Russian military.  Whatever it is, it's a wonderful condition mid-19th century military cap & ball rifle. - {7nmmo-2} - antq - (estimate 750 to 1500)

Lot 188 - Snider two band short rifle conversion - Barnett Model 1858 - .577 Snider; 30.5” barrel. - Fine condition. - Crisp overall.  Light gray metal with scattered pepper spotting; working; fine refinished wood with a couple repaired spots.  Light patina brass furniture. Excellent markings include arrow through S over chamber & on breechblock; BARNETT / LONDON w/  crown over VR on lockplate; various proofs & 25 on rear left barrel; B&S 89 on breechblock; oval brass plate w/ 124 on left side of stock; 59 on top of buttplate.  Fine mech & bore.   - {7nmmo-3} - antq - (estimate 650 to 1250)

Lot 189 - Snider two band short rifle conversion - Barnett Model 1858 - .577 Snider; 30.5” barrel. - About fine condition. - Crisp overall.  Light gray metal with scattered pepper spotting; some very light pitting on lockplate & in spots on barrel.  Working; fine refinished wood with some losses at ramrod channel.  Light patina brass funiture.  Excellent markings include arrow through S over chamber & on breechblock; BARNETT / LONDON w/  crown over VR on lockplate; various proofs & 25 on rear left barrel; B&S 31 on breech block; oval brass plate w/ 129 on left side of stock; 10 on top of buttplate.  Fine mech & bore. - {7nmmo-4} - antq - (estimate 650 to 1250)

Lot 190 - Springfield Armory - U.S. Model 1884 - Trapdoor Cadet rifle - .45-70; 29.5” barrel. - Assembled very good condition. - Soft gray-blue barrel; dark mottled lockplate & breech block; excellent markings; dark blue triggerguard; light pitting on buttplate.  1884 Breechblock & Buffington rear sight.  Working; usual bore.  Sound refinished stock, no cartouches visible. - s/n 371327 - {7rctxtd} - antq - (estimate 500 to 1000)

Lot 191 - Sharps New Model Carbine - Cartridge Conversion - .50-70 cf; 22” three-groove barrel. - Condition is fine to excellent. - Barrel has appearance of 97% dull blue, but under strong light you can see it is turning plum, with maybe 70-80% thin blue remaining.  Barrel marking partially lost, doubtless during refinish when converted to cartridge.  Faded mottled case color on frame, with excellent crisp markings.  Firing pin nose is broken, otherwise working.  Fine bore.  Sound stock has usage & storage marks with excellent DFC & RTS cartouches.  Small white metal plaque on left rear forend w/ “12” (museum or collection tag?) - s/n 84680 - {7rgmo-2} - antq - (estimate 2000 to 4000)

Lot 192 - Spencer Carbine - M.1860 Civil War Model. - .52 rimfire; 22” six-groove barrel. - Very good conditon. - Brown metal; fairly good markings; working.  Sound wood w/ usage marks.  Early lever action repeater. - s/n indistinct, possibly 58634 - {7rgmo-3} - antq - (estimate 1250 to 2500)

Lot 193 - Early muzzle-loading spring air rifle - .28 (7mm) caliber; 21.75” octagon barrel. - Good condition - Mottled gray metal, with some light pitting on the air cylinder & a 1” spot of heavy corrosion.  Left side of stock is broken at wrist; otherwise very good wood.  Fine schnaebel tip forend.  I suspect this is working, and that an accessory key or crank is missing.  Adjustable trigger.  Fascinating & doubtless early design. I believe a separate key or crank was used to crank a longitudinal toothed bar through a keyhole in the right side of the action.   As the bar retracted, it would compress two large powerful flat coil springs (spring blades are about 2” wide & very thin, spiraling into themselves as they are compressed). -    Ball would be rammed down barrel like a traditional muzzleloader (probably patched).  The trigger would release these springs, driving a circular gasket forward into the cylinder, forcing the air into the breech of the barrel to drive the ball. - {7rjnj-1} - antq - (estimate 1000 to 2000)

Lot 194 - US Springfield - Model 1861 percussion musket - .58 cal.; 40” rifled barrel. - Condition is excellent to fine. - Bright metal w/ some light pepper spotting & slight nicotine haze; could be cleaned up but I personally wouldn't.  Excellent markings include 1863 dates on lockplate & barrel breech.  Two leaf rear sight.  Excellent mech & nipple; good bore.  Fine wood with light storage & handling marks & strong cartouche. - {7rjnj-2} - (estimate 1500 to 3000)

Lot 195 - Percussion military carbine. - 1865 dated & AE marked. - .60 cal.; 24” rifled barrel. - Good condition. - Pepper spotted mottled gray metal with spots of corrosion on barrel.  Strong markings include 1865 on crisp lockplate; with AE on lockplate, nipple bolster & barrel band; small dot in triangle & cross stampings on barrel breech; and 283A on tang.  Good mech & nipple.  Sound stock, lightly sanded, with worm holes & dings; large cartouche appears to be F.A. / 1883.  Moderate patina brass furniture.  Three leaf rear sight. - {7rjnj-6} - antq - (estimate 400 to 800)

Lot 196 - S. Hawken - plains rifle - .62 cal.; 32-5/8” octagon barrel, measures 1” across flats. - Well used condition. - Appears heavily used & unaltered since period of use.  Dark metal with roughness & scaling.  Legible barrel marking “S. HAWKEN   ST. LOUIS”.  Lock plate marked “JAS. GOLCHER / PHILADA” with engraved game bird faint on rear of lock & faint light scroll engraving on lockplate & hammer.  Buckhorn rear sight dovetailed in front of empty dovetail; 1-1/8” long german silver front sight blade on dovetailed base.  Simple brass furniture; pewter nosecap.  Iron underbarrel rib & ramrod thimbles. Half stock w/ cheekpiece has crack at front of lock (with old woodscrew repair), bottom rear of buttstock, and on bottom from nearly front of the triggerguard tang running forward to the nosecap, with significant old losses around the front of the ramrod channel.   - Double set trigger is not quite functioning.  Front of lockplate is pulling away from stock.  Iron tipped ramrod.  Knowledgeable owner describes this as “non-typical large bore brass trim Hawkens Plain Rifle.  Has been well used and has probably been reworked from a full stock at some point but lock & barrel markings are clear & correct”.   - {7sgar-1} - antq - (estimate 6000 to 10000)

Lot 197 - Winchester - Model 1897 - pump shotgun - 12 ga.; 30” full choke barrel. - Fine condition. - Appears as 98% blue (except on mag tube), but under strong light it is evident that the finish is thinning & turning plum for maybe a 70-80% rating, along with tiny spots from old rust scattered on the gun.  Working.  Stock probably refinished with a hairline crack at wrist; vent rubber recoil pad added. - s/n E433819 - {7srm-28} - C&R ffl - (estimate 250 to 500)

Lot 198 - Winchester - Model 1892 - lever action rifle - .25-20 WCF; 24” oct. barrel. - Very good condition. - Fairly crisp metal, barrel a mixture of thin original blue & plum, frame peppered light gray.  Very good wood shows usage marks. - ca. 1912 - s/n 628720 - {7srm-32} - C&R ffl - (estimate 400 to 700)
