Lot #1088 - W.J. McElroy, Macon GA marked  - antique bowie knife - Good condition. - Double edged spear point blade is 12.5” long; 2” wide, 3/16” thick.  Marked “W. J. McELROY / MACON GA.”  Light gray w/ scattered spotting & light pitting.  Brass handguard; spiral carved wood handle. - The knife & marking are similar to, but not identical to, the illustrations of the McElroy Confederate bowie in Albaugh's “Confederate Edged Weapons”, and Albaugh & Simmons' “Confederate Arms”.  (In fairness it should be noted that the illustrations in the two books do not show identical patterns to each other either).  Confederate material is a tricky field.  When a possible CSA piece is offered the buyer should carefully inspect & draw his own judgment.  - [8mxg-05] -

Lot #1097 - Pike - attributed as Civil War era. - Fair condition. - Metal is pitted overall, except where edges appear to have been sharpened some time ago.  8” double edged spear point blade; 6.25” wide cross piece; mounted on a short handle. - Owner believes this to be Civil War era pike head. - [8flk040] - 
Lot #1098 - Will & Finck, S.F. Cal. marked double edged dagger. - Very good condition. - 6”+ blade is bright with scratches & use marks, with “WILL & FINCK” marking curved above “S.F. CAL”.  Ornate 2 pc. short handguard; slim ebony color wood grips; horse head hilt cap with stylized cannon motif, fouled anchor on one side & what's possible a soft pointed cap on the other.  Handle adornments may be silver; are non-ferrous. - With an excellent condition more recently custom made wood lined leather sheath by Robert Edge.  Will & Finck was a respected maker that went out of business in the 1906 San Fran. earthquake.  While this knife looks to have some age to me, reproductions of this general pattern have been observed, and bidder inspection is  encouraged to make his own inspection and draw his own conclusions. - [8flk039] - 
Lot #1099 - Halberd - Good condition. - 26.5” from point to bottom of socket; owner notes this item as “extremely rare & old, with royal family eagle”.  Metal has appearance of fairly heavy even age pitting, but the axe blade remains surprisingly sharp showing little wear and virtually no pitting.  If this artifact is indeed old, the axe edge must have been sharpened in recent decades.  Bidder inspection is urged. - [8flk020] -

Lot #1401 - French Model 1866 sword bayonet - Fine condition. - About excellent blade, some cleaning on markings on spine, 1869 dated.  Patina brass handle; exc. steel scabbard (not matching no.) - [7rgmo-4] - 
Lot #1402 - Officers 1850 Foot Officers Sword - Fine condition. - 30.5” slightly curved blade is soft gray with darker gray speckles; no roughness nor pitting.  Ornate floral brass handguard; leather & wire handle wrap intact. - Per retired Texas lawman owner this is “typical of the type & style predominantly carried / issued to Confederate Infantry Officers and were often obtained from British or French sword makers during the early years of the Civil War, and rarely found with any manufacturers' markings on them. - [8dltx-26] - (est.300 to 600)
Lot #1403 - Light Cavalry Saber & scabbard - probably 1860 Ames - with verbal Confederate attribution. - Fine condition. - 34.5” curved bright blade with some small dark freckles & a few very slight nicks on the front 1/3 of the edge.  Light patina brass handguard; leather & wire handle wrap intact.   Metal scabbard has round repair areas. Retired Texas lawman owner attributes as Ames made, and notes it “reportedly came from a defunct Illinois Civil War museum.  Was listed as a captured Confederate sword that was originally manufactured &/or issued by the Union.” - “Ames maker's name is worn off, but sword fits all criteria of the 1860 Model Ames Saber used/issued during Civil War period.  The scabbards dents are leaded in as per the standard field repair methods used by Civil War Armorers of that period and is original to the sword as well.” - [8dltx-27] - (est.600 to 1200)

Lot #1438 - Will & Fi??? marked large bowie knife - Very good condition. - 9.5” blade is mottled with no real pitting, roughness, or other evidence of significant age.  Stamped “WILL & FI…” on base & deeply marked “LEFT HAND SATAN / RIGHT HAND JUSTICE” on the blade, with somewhat crude lettering & scroll work.  Wood handle with pearl dots and brass tack decoration. - A big impressive knife, and Will & Finck is a famous maker.  My guess would be that this marking is spurious due to the crude nature of the blade decoration, among other reasons.  Inspection urged so that you may judge vintage for yourself.  In a recent leather sheath with eagle head decoration. - [8flk038] -
