Lot #604 - Winchester - Model 1886 lever action rifle - .45-70 - 26” replaced Morrison octagon barrel. - Reworked to excellent condition. - 99% professional dark reblue; frame markings lightened a bit but legible; “KTW” stamped on bottom front frame.  Replaced barrel marked “Morrison / Bradford Maine” w/ excellent bore.  Good mech.  Excellent plus refinished or replaced wood with fancy grain. - s/n 71664 - antq - [9RWLR-02] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #605 - Winchester - Model 42 - pump .410 shotgun - .410 ga., 3” - 26” vent rib Mod. Choke barrel. - Excellent condition. - Dramatic highly figured gloss finished wood is about perfect.  98-99% blue. - s/n 15547 - C&R ffl - [KUJZ-18] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #606 - Winchester - Model 1895 - early flatside lever action rifle, w/ spare barrel. - .30 U.S. - Replacement barrel is 24”; original barrel 28”. - Restored to excellent appearance. - 99% dark professional blue; markings weakened a bit, but still legible.  Refinished wood w/ some blemishes still visible.  Good mech; good bore on installed 24” barrel; fairly good on 28” barrel. - s/n 3130 - antq - [9RWLR-04] - (est.750-1500).
Lot #607 - Winchester - Model 1895 - Special Order lever action rifle - .30 U.S. - 26” barrel. - Fine condition. - 70-80% original bright blue; scattered small spots of light pitting; excellent markings, including stamped on bottom of barrel under wood “ORDER No. 520 J.P.P.”  Sound fancy wood shows usage dings & scratches; schnaebel forend w/ ebony inlay.  Working.  Lyman side-receiver mount peep sight, plus standard open buckhorn rear sight; King bead on blade front. - ca. 1899 - s/n 27949 - C&R ffl - [9WMOP-1] - (est.750-1500).
Lot #608 - Marlin - Model 1894 - lever action rifle - .44W (.44-40). 28” octagon barrel. - Excellent condition. - About 80% thin blue on barrel; slight mottling on frame, buttplate & lever.  Excellent markings.  Good mech & bore.  Marble tang peep sight. Lot #609 - Barrel & cylinder for S&W New Model #3 Target Model. - .38-44 Target; 6.5” barrel - Barrel 85%, cylinder 50% original bright blue; both with areas of pitting & dings.  Dirty bore.  No latch.  Cyl. #3892, barrel #1. Long strap; caliber marked; single line barrel address. - Hank Means collection - s/n 3892 - parts - [BTB-38M] - (est.200-400).
Lot #610 - Wittig marked - 3rd Model Russian - attributed as Ludwig Loewe “Pilot Model” - .44 cal.; 6.5” barrel. - Excellent condition. - Even light plum patina metal is extremely crisp with sharp edges.  There are no traces of finish, and I believe this gun never had the final factory polish & finish.  Excellent mech & perfect bore.  Missing large cylinder retaining screw in topstrap.  This gun has no barrel markings and no serial numbers, and it does not appear to have ever had any.  The only markings I find are the assembly arrow on the extractor gear in the hinge area, and a small “Z” and tiny “1” on the left grip frame. - Stamped in serifed letter on the left grip panel is “Wittig”.  Collection notes identify this as a Ludwig Loewe “pilot model”.  I suspect this means a gun that was assembled as an early production sample or reference copy for the factory.  Hank Means collection - s/n none - antq - [BR-WTGM] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #611 - Rare .44 rimfire - Ludwig Loewe - Cyrillic marked 3rd Model Russian - .44 rimfire; 6.5” barrel. - Good condition. - Dull dark blue-gray metal w/ scattered usage dings & areas of very light roughness; hammer is unusual bright fire blue; barrel address appears to the standard L&L Cyrillic marking for Russian contract guns.  Broken upper sideplate screw.  Not working, hammer will not fully cock; intact two piece smooth wood grips show very heavy usage. - A L&L Cyrillic marked Russian military contract gun is a fairly scarce piece.  What makes this one most unusual is the rimfire chambering.  Firing pin & recoil shield face look to me as if they were manufactured in this configuration.  I've seen Rimfire L&L's before, but I think they were always commercial marked pieces.  Hank Means collection - s/n 62112 - antq - [BR-112M] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #612 - S&W - New Model No. 3. - Target Model single action revolver, British proofs - .38-44; 6.5” barrel. - Probably factory refinished fine to excellent condition. - Markings on grip frame suggest a 1905 factory refinish Frame 85-90%, barrel 70%, cylinder 30-40% factory bright blue; case colors about faded out; excellent markings.  Working; excellent bore.  Diamond center deep-dish gold medallion checkered grips probably from era of factory rework show fancy grain, very handsome & excellent condition. - Hank Means collection - s/n 2285 - antq - [BT-285M] - (est.2000-4000).
Lot #613 - S&W - New Model No. 3 single action revolver - .44 Russian - Factory refinished excellent plus. - 99%+ of what markings suggest is a 1975 factory mirror bright renickel; some very slight roughness under plating, mostly on barrel, which was apparently too deep to polish out.  Excellent case color & blue on contrasting parts.  Good mech, fairly good bore.  Handsome old pearl grips showing deep colors and age yellow w/ slightest chip to bottom edges.  Replaced front sight blade. - Hank Means collection - s/n 3706 - antq - [BT-706M] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #614 - S&W - New Model No. 3 single action revolver - .44 Russian; somewhat scarce 6” barrel. - Good condition. - Gray patina metal; fine markings.  Working, with strong mainspring.  Usual bore; good hard rubber grips.  This gun is in an interesting serial number range which include a number of guns shipped to the U.S. Revenue Service (“Coast Guard guns”).  This revolver letters as shipped Dec. 6, 1886, to F.L. Coster, no address listed.  In the letter, Factory Historian Roy Jinks notes “In searching the records, I find revolvers being shipped to the Revenue Service in this same time frame.  However these handguns were all billed to the United States Treasury and listed ships that they were assigned to.”    - The recipient Coster does not appear to be a major dealer or distributor, and there's always a possibility that guns shipped to individuals may reveal more upon further research.  -  Hank Means collection - s/n 23734 - antq - [BT-734M] - (est.1000-2000).
Lot #615 - S&W - Rare .38 Winchester Double Action - .38-40 (.38WCF); 6.5” barrel. - About good condition. - Mostly pitted light gray metal w/ maybe 10% nickel remaining; very good markings including “38 WINCHESTER CTG” barrel marking.  Working w/ very heavy trigger pull; usual bore; worn hard rubber grips with file marks on the logo of left panel. - This caliber was introduced as it's own model with it's own serial number range.  Only 276 were made ca. 1900-1910.  Hank Means collection - s/n 167 - C&R ffl - [BZ-167M] - (est.750-1500).
Lot #616 - Ornate gold damascene decorated - S&W 2nd Model Rimfire Russian - .44 rimfire; 7” barrel. - Fair condition. - Extremely ornate gold damascene is 90% intact; the rest of the metal surface of the gun is corroded brown, with areas of deep pitting on the front barrel sides, sideplate, and right bottom frame edge.  Does not quite hold full cock; very dirty bore.  Original smooth wood grips had ornate silver wire overlays attached to them, with the overlay missing on the right panel.  I expect this is the Turkish variation of the 2nd Model Russian. - Although quite scarce, I have seen a very few other examples of this type of extravagant and impressive decoration on other Russian Models, often with Turkish association.  Hank Means collection - Serial or assembly number 1700 appears on cylinder, barrel & latch.  - antq - [BR-GLDM] - (est.800-1600).
Lot #617 - Smith & Wesson - H.E. M1896, 1st Model revolver - .32 S&W Long - 4.25” - Probably refinished. - 99% milky full nickel plate; markings quite legible.  Working; fine hard rubber grips. - s/n 9161 - antq - [8tsm198] - (est.200-400).
Lot #618 - Walther - Model HP - P-38 pattern pistol. - 9mm - Excellent condition. - 97% thin blue w/ hairline scuffs & scratches; light marks to plastic grips. - s/n 19901 - C&R ffl - [KUHB-09] - (est.300-550).
Lot #619 - High Standard - H-D Military pistol - .22 Long Rifle - 6 3/4” barrel. - Excellent condition. - 95-97% original blue. Fixed sights, bright blue, checkered grips with “HS” motif. - Bull-barrel, fixed sights, crisp checkered grips - s/n 226963 - FFL - [9HH-18] - (est.275-525).
Lot #620 - Sauer - 38-H Commercial, Type 3 pistol - 7.65 mm (.32 acp). 97% military type gray wartime brush phosphate finish, rendering markings faint but legible. The slide is marked, “J. P. Sauer & Sohn * Suhl”. On the left side of the slide and the grip is the number 39007572.  N under eagle proof stamp on right rear frame; eagle over 37 on left front triggerguard.  Right grip damaged; left grip intact. Large numerals 39007572 stamped thru finish on front gripstrap & right rear slide. - Knowledgeable consignor reports, “Due to the urgency of the war, the order was received to not polish the exterior surfaces of the pistols as had been done previously.  There was also a change in the formulation of the grip's material.  Later in the range there will be found stamped parts”  - s/n 363281 - C&R ffl - [9HH-31] - (est.275-525).
